SMEs increase IT spending in 2007

A recent study has indicated that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK will increase their IT spending by a significant margin this year.The IT budgets of SMEs will rise by 10.7 per cent during the course of the year, claims research by AMR Research, double the rate expected in Germany and France, reports silicon.com.
Better utilisation of the internet by small companies and an increase in the use of business process outsourcing are expected to be among the factors behind the growth.
SMEs with yearly revenue below $250 million are expected to among the biggest growth areas for IT spend, with outlay expected to be up 12.4 per cent throughout the sector in UK, France and Germany.
This figure is far above the 6.4 per cent increase in IT spending set to be recorded by firms of all sizes over the coming year from the three countries.
However, IT spending across all companies is very much on the up, with a 5.6 growth figure posted in the big three countries in 2006.
