IBM invests in SME software

IBM has announced it is set to place greater emphasis on software with small-to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in mind. The company's Integrated Partner Team (IPT), which was formed last year, offers a number of SME-specific products and systems.
IPT's new plans are expected to double the number of products it offers for its SME customers over the coming years, reports Computing.
It has already released a wide range of new commodities as part of its most recent software range, including Tivoli and Lotus products.
Jeremy Wray, the channel sales executive at IBM software group, said: "No-one buys hardware and then doesn’t run software on it, so it makes sense for us to offer our software through IPT," he said.
"The market needs re-energising and to be re-exploited for IBM."
It is thought that IBM will pay particular attention to lowering the prices of its software to meet the pockets of smaller businesses in the public sector.
