The UK is a breeding ground for new entrepreneurs, according to Ernst and Young. The services organisation said that the UK provides excellent conditions for new entrepreneurs, including a large pool of executive talent, extensive capital and excellent global transport links.
Ernst & Young made the comments in the run up to its Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 awards programme.
Richard Hall, UK markets leader, told consultantnews.com: "Britain is a hotbed for entrepreneurship and one of the most attractive destinations in Europe to do business."
He added: "The flipside of increasing competition from high-volume, low-cost manufacturing countries like China and India is that the UK is increasingly used by overseas businesses as a springboard to Europe.”"
Last year's winner of Entrepreneur Of The Year, Canadian Tim Richards of Vue Cinemas, said that the UK held "a limitless number of opportunities to start, improve or enhance new companies".
Ernst & Young hosts its Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in more than 40 countries.
