Strata office schemes help SMEs start up

Strata office schemes, in which businesses can buy a floor in an office building, are helping SMEs to start up, according to analysts. The strata schemes give more small companies, who cannot afford to buy a whole office building, the chance to get onto the property ladder.
This is particularly good news for SMEs now that the commercial property market is in good shape, since as it gives them the chance to profit from rising property values.
The Strata schemes are currently flourishing in Newcastle.
In an article for icNewcastle, Tim Evans, head of property agent Knight Frank wrote "strata schemes give companies a unique opportunity to invest".
He added: "They can buy the freehold of a whole or part floor in a building then either occupy it or rent the space and watch their capital grow in value."
In other UK cities such as London, schemes in which individuals can opt to buy and own hotel rooms are becoming increasingly commonplace.
