SMEs to outsource IT management

A new report has suggested that small to medium sized businesses (SMEs) are set to increasingly outsource their IT management processes. The study by Forrester indicates that IT support at SMEs and its integration in to the company will increasingly become the domain of specialist IT outsourcers, reports One Stop Click.
It is thought that the added expertise, as well as improved efficiency and cost saving benefits that these firms can offer, will encourage many SMEs to outsource their IT departments.
Both implementation and ongoing management will be increasingly undertaken by outside providers, the report claims.
The vice president of Forrester, Andrew Parker, said: "We'll see stable operations farmed out to third parties, new IP sourced from open communities and solution brokers, emerging technologies going to market wrapped in process bundles and new software investments based on subscription rather than ownership."
Forrester has warned IT services firms that they will have to be increasingly adaptable to these new changes to working practices over the next five years.
