Online aid for north-east businesses
Published On 22 February 2007 at 10:56:20
Businesses in the north-east are being given the chance to improve their web presence by a new website set up this week. The Online PR Agency is being launched by the north-east Regional Portal - a non-profit e-trading organisation set up by the regional development agency One NorthEast - to help entrepreneurs in the region reach a "potentially global audience".
A range of tools and specialist techniques are offered by the site, designed to help small businesses become strong competitors for other UK enterprises by improving their online visibility, reports icNewcastle.co.uk.
Inclusion of relevant key words to press releases is vital for search engine optimisation (SEO), says the Agency - and is a process which relies on "expert knowledge of SEO techniques and tactics".
Pascal Fintoni, consultant at the Regional Portal, commented: "Think about how many businesses are submitting new data to the leading search engines all day, every day.
"Without highly targeted and specific keywords, it can take up to six months for Google's spiders to find a new piece of information.
"But by getting the keywords right for both users and the search engines, businesses can maximise their chances of online visibility."
The UK now has around 35.1 million regular internet users, according to the latest figures from online publisher eMarketer.
