Bank offers advice to start-ups

A leading high street bank has launched a new service designed to help entrepreneurs start their own small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).HSBC revealed that its Up and Running site would offer free online information to people thinking about starting their own SMEs.
On the site, anyone can access useful data and ask people who have already started successful businesses for advice.
Budding business people can also sign-up for a weekly newsletter to help them get through the tricky start up period.
"Whether you want to find out how to turn an idea into a viable venture or simply need information about how to run your business more effectively, Up and Running is there to provide support and advice," explained Simon Wainwright, head of business banking at the lender.
"Drawing on the real experiences of people who, at one time or another, have been in your shoes, this service can help you make a real success of your business."
Figures released earlier in the year by UHY Hacker Young showed that 5.2 per cent of all businesses in the UK failed last year. However the failure rate for new businesses in far higher, showing that these companies need all the advice they can get.
